It's been two years since I posted something to this blog. I read over my
last posting and indeed the race of life took over. Here's a quick update. I'm
still married to my wonderful husband. We welcomed our first child, Lauren on
May 2nd of this year. She is a delight. I gladly left that new job I had started
two years ago. I've transitioned my blogging to our family site at:

Today my friend Ben ran the Chicago Marathon. It was really fun to dash all over Chicago with a group of friends to cheer him on. We managed to see him
three places on the route and as he crossed the finish line. It was amazing to imagine the endurance all the runners put forth to go the distance as they would stream
by us at each place we stopped to cheer.
I feel like lizlog has been a bit of a marathon in it's own way. For the first year and a half, I kept a steady pace,
but lately I've been dragging. Looking back, the postings seem regular, but in reality I post more in groupings about once a month...more like an occasional sprint, trying to
keep up. That's not really in keeping with the true spirit of a blog. With a 6 month old marriage and now a new job starting tomorrow, I think I'm going
to put lizlog on pause...maybe stop. We'll see.

My company made a big step forward today with a new design as well as a new software platform. It was a huge project that I got to be a part of. In a few weeks I
will be starting a new job...same company, different team. I'm excited.

I found myself near Cincinnati late this week and figured I'd take my husband on a tour of my college campus. This pic
is of the Miami University seal.
You weren't supposed to step on it or you'd fail your next exam. In the background is a notable architecture feature, the Upham Arch.

My church, Park Community, has purchased a building in the southwest corner of the Cabrini-Green neighborhood. From the roof, you can see an amazing
view of the Chicago skyline, and you can also see the boarded up housing project buildings that are being vacated and torn down
in the city's plan to replace them with mixed income housing of higher quality.

Jace planned a surprise afternoon excursion for me. I have had a cold all week, and still feel really sick, so we weren't able to travel as far as he
wanted. But we did get to go up to Evanston to the Northwestern campus where some Monarch
butterflies are grouping during their migration. It was a warm
sunny day and we were able to enjoy the large butterflies floating around amongst the hydrangea bushes.

Our flight back from Chicago touched down and I hopped on the train and went straight to Colleen's to hang out with my small group. We had a fabulous
cook out on the roof of her condo building. Angela - make sure you email us that recipe for the grape dessert. Mmmmm!

We enjoyed some great oceanview dining this weekend. Tonight we had dinner on the tip of Longboat Key. Our table was right in the sand and this seagull
was hoping we'd drop some food. This weekend we also went jet skiing, visited the Mote Aquarium and my mom and I hit the Steinmart for some bargain hunting.

For Labor Day weekend Jace and I went down to visit my folks in Sarasota. Big Andy and his new
fiancee Mara were also in town for the weekend.
This is a pic of a Florida laundry mat.

Thanks to the big-wigs being out of town, Jace was able to score admission to his company's executive suite at the Chicago Bears game tonight.
The birds eye view was pretty good, and there were TVs in the suite for following the action close -up. Not that I really followed the action. I had a
fun time enjoying the atmosphere, but I don't really dig football.

Yikes. It's been almost a month since I last posted something. Folks, you know that's not what blogging is about. Well, for now I'll keep
plodding along and see if I can pick up the pace a bit. Today we went to the airshow. I borrowed this pic from Jace.
